Meet Spencer Lacy, a 27-year-old pro athlete who, as a pioneer of the emerging yet “out there” sport of whitewater stand-up-paddling (SUP), does everything he can to live original. The Boulder, CO native travels from river to river as the snow melts over the summer months, pioneering fresh stretches of whitewater untouched by SUP and surfing every standing wave in his path. His 1991 Toyota Previa – that he paid a dollar for – doesn’t have a shower, but he’s in the water every day, so it doesn’t matter.
